FAQ

Which output formats are supported?

We support Word, PowerPoint, Excel, HTML, Plain Text, PDF, and PDF/UA.

Why are you using MS Office for document automation?

By using MS Office files for automation, we ensure that all of the visual elements supported by MS Office are also supported by our tools. Admins can do most of the visual work and set up connectors without any programming skills.

Do we need to have a dedicated server with MS Office running?

We use the MS Office file format and allow admins to maintain core visuals as well as automation items in MS Office files where needed. Our Automation Services will typically run using OpenXML and you will therefore not be relying on a server-side MS Office installation.

What happens once the document is populated?

If no end-user input is needed, our services will send the document/presentation/workbook/PDF to your application. If end-user finalization is required, the populated file is available for editing using ordinary MS Office.

Will Omnidocs have access to all our files processed?

No, our solution runs in-memory. We do not store any files. If you are using sensitive data, we offer our service to run in your own infrastructure.

Do you have a maximum capacity of documents/presentations/spreadsheets/PDFs?

No, our services run in Azure and are fully scalable and have no maximum capacity.

Do you integrate to common workflow/document management tools?

Yes, we have a generic REST API. There are no requirements to your data structure, since we use transformations to accomplish this.

What integrations have you done so far with the Document Automation Services?

Our clients have implemented following integrations:

  • Webservices/REST
  • Salesforce
  • SharePoint
  • Templafy
  • PowerBI
  • Google Sheets
  • Snowflake

Can your Automation Services manage more than plain text?

Yes. During the creation of documents, presentations, and spreadsheets we fully support insertion of images, rich text (OpenXML/HTML formatted), and native MS Office- tables and charts.

Can the Omnidocs Automation Services run on more integrations at the same time?

Yes, our Automation Services can run on top of multiple data input.

How are your services usually triggered?

They are either triggered by a user in an external application or by an event.

Is it possible to manage changes to the documents/presentations/spreadsheets on my own once the document automation is set up?

When handing over the solution, we will have setup the initial output and give you training in how you can do more and/or connect more data to the service. There is no dependency to our consultants, but we are of course happy to help you configuring the tools as well as exploring further options.

The integrations to your document automation service, can they also be used inside MS Office
triggered by a user?

Yes, our in-office integrations are typically user-invoked and can trigger lookups.
The purpose is to allow users to not need to visit other tools and/or go through a copy/paste exercise to update documents, presentations, and/or spreadsheets. Read more on this on our website.

Can we test it?

Yes. Provide us with your data and output needs and we can do a POC to show that the data streams/document streams work as expected. Fill out the contact form on the bottom of this page here.
